Literature Text

Perhaps you were right,
I dared too much,
But a life spent without going beyond the limits
And common thought
Would have been my real labyrinth,
Father.
I always liked the Icarus’ myth, so I wrote this apology for him. He died even though he had been warned by his father, this is his meaning.
I like to see it in a different way, though: he challenged Gods with his poor technology, he risked his life to reach the sun, to do something never done before by any human being.
He represents an important aspect of youth, the need to go beyond the previous generation’s beliefs, teachings and limits.
It is both a negative and positive aspect: Icarus dies, after all, in a predictable way, but his need is the need of the modern man, the inner force that guides our civilisation and makes it progress.

There's something lovely withing the bones of this poem and I think it's becuase it really captures his soul. Perfect for so little words :D
